Sojourner Truth

My favorite image of Sojourner Truth. Frederick Douglass described her as "that strange compound of wit and wisdom, of wild enthusiasm and flint-like common sense who seemed to feel it her duty to trip me up in my speeches and to ridicule my efforts to speak and act like a person of cultivation and refinement." Truth was known for using her own unabasshedly colloquial rhetoric while giving speeches on the abolition of slavery.
