Just last month I was reading about the women situation in ancient Egypt and it seemed that although Egypt was a patriarchal society where men exercised the most power, Egyptian women had more rights when compared with other ancient societies. They theoretically shared a legal status with men, could own properties, and enjoyed more liberties that we associate with modern life.
Historically, many women of all races have
been left out of the picture. That is one thing men of all races have in common. Red Yellow Black Brown and white, they all like their women under their dominance. It's unfortunate because they seem to be a lot smarter than the men doing the dominating.
She was known as "The First Lady of The Struggle".
Mary Jane McLeod Bethune(photo) was born in South Carolina in July 10, 1875 died May 18, 1955. For her lifetime of activism, she was deemed "acknowledged First Lady of Negro America" by Ebony magazine in July 1949. She was also known as the "Female Booker T. Washington".
She also was appointed as a national advisor to president Franklin D. Roosevelt, whom she worked with to create the Federal Council on Colored Affairs, also known as the Black Cabinet.
