Good find, Maestro. I'd never heard of the Schomburg Center until a few years ago when Khalil Gibran Muhammad, the great grandson of Elijah Muhammad, became director.
Interestingly, I'd thought the name Schomburg was strictly Ashkenazi Jew. So my findings today, thanks to you, have enlightened me about the Puerto Rican-German autodidact scholar.

We need the historian and philosopher to give us with trenchant pen, the story of our forefathers, and let our soul and body, with phosphorescent light, brighten the chasm that separates us. We should cling to them just as blood is thicker than water.
―Arturo Schomburg
After moving to New York City from Puerto Rico at the age of 17, Arturo Alfonso Schomburg , the son of a Puerto Rican merchant of German descent and an Afro-Caribbean woman from the Danish West Indies, became an important intellectual figure in the Harlem Renaissance.
