Dr. Mercedes Tharam(photo below) was born in Kingston Jamaica in 1955 and passed away in 2016 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Discovered her a few days ago through my British-Jamaican chick. This lady studied all over the world, Slovekia, New Jersey, France, Germany, Czech Republic, you name it. So far she's the best Jamaican in my list.

Anyway, Mercedes Tharam was a pioneer in the application of spectroscopic tomography to the study of close stellar binary systems and well-known as an “infectious” educator. She is renowned for her study of stars by examining the unique colours of light they give off. She invented a technique called "astrotomography" to watch how gas flows between stars, similar to how doctors use CT scans to look inside our bodies. Her discoveries gave us a clearer picture of how stars and planets work in space. Fun Fact. Dr.Richard was part of the team who redesignated Pluto a "dwarf planet".

To me personally, Mercedes Tharam Richards is even a better role model for young Black girls than Kamala Harris, yes indeed. May she RIP!!
