Well, I believe the damage towards Judaism and Israel's image really started in 1948; coz the Zionist's policy didn't change since way back. Same land grabbing through violence and killings were happening since. What happened in october 7th is nothing new, except the Palestinians for the first time ever used an unexpected tactic to attack and kill 1200 Israelis. But then payed a heavy price with Gaza erased from the Palestinian map and an ongoing genocide of the ppl.
