Good posts, bro. Lol, people have to pick their poison. I remember when I was a kid, in the 1960s, and they integrated the schools in Mississippi. Well, my grandmother was a civil rights spokesperson and asked if I wanted to be a part of the first group(s) to integrate. I was leaving first grade and wanted to be part of the Movement so I said, "Oh yeah, sign me up." Well, those were tough times at schools where we Black students were the 1%. After about 6 years, the schools fully integrated. I felt like, "oh yeah, we got reinforcements coming--the Black students would make the school's roughly 50-50, in population. To my utter surprise, though, the majority of Black kids who came over in the integration process were a bunch of lumpen proletariats, who didn't give a care about the big political issues. They loved to fight, though, and we had more thugs than the young white thugs, so we reigned supreme in the hallways.

In the classrooms, though, the Black kids far and large liked to crack jokes and give the teachers hell. We couldn't have decent class sessions until they shipped the majority of the so-called minority kids to sections 7, 8, 9, and 10 -- while sections 1-6 were for the kids who had more social capital, mostly whites or upwardly mobile Blacks.

So, I understand the Nigerian woman's pain, and the AA woman's -- this is the wacky world we live in.
