We must remember that Africans for that period landed in present-day Florida in the early 1500s..
Plus, those who landed in the Virginia colony(1619) were not the first enslaved Africans because the Spanish brought enslaved Africans to our mainland (1560s), again in Florida.

Now here's the thing: I am one of those who remain skeptical that the early Africans in Virginia were brought in as "indentured servants", pretty much like the early Irish. From my late readings, there was a big difference between the white indentured servants and what the so-called African indentured servants went through or experienced!
But then....
