He was the first popular, mainstream-accepted intellectual - black or white - to publicly come out in support of the Palestinian cause, and took some heat from Zionist forces, especially those at CBS News.
Now low-and-behold, all kinds of high-profile literary figures, entertainers etc., are no longer afraid to condemn Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza. A group of over 300 prominent UK writers, actors, scholars, and other cultural figures signed a letter calling for an immediate ceasefire, and going so far to use the word "genocide" in their protest letter. Ouch!

For those of us supporting the Palestinian cause this is a hopeful & encouraging moment in the struggle.
