I have always been fascinated by this very deep interests many Ashkenazi Jews have about places like Iraq, Somalia, Ethiopia, Syria, Eritrea, Sudan, etc - places referenced in the Bible. Benjamin Netanyahu's father, BenZion Netanyahu(born in Poland), had this fascination with Egypt and wrote some controversial/(bordering on racists?)things about ancient/Kemetic Egypt. But that's for another time.
I suspect Netanyahu internalized some of his father's outlook on Judaism & Ancient Egypt. I also think his father influenced many conservative & Zionist Jews into the idea of "a greater Israel".
