To be honest, I don't think Iran is dangerous at all..
I think the Mullahs are scared shitless cause they don't have nuclear weapons or any meaningful stock of modern weaponry..
The only country that would have posed a significant threat(in terms of middle east) to the United States and Israel would have been Libya cause Gaddafi had started building some serious nuclear program stuff.
