This morning I awoke to the extremely loud squawking sound of the Sandhill Cranes that were in my backyard. This city boy never new they existed; my much-travelled neighbor identified them. They are humongous. The pair in my yard must be close to 6 feet high. When they took off, my jaw dropped seeing their wing-span. I swear, if I got on the back of one of them i could have rode away.
