Seems like nobody is really paying attention or giving a hard time to "Denmark" to face its Black slavery past and pay reparations,..fingers are usually pointed at Great Britain, France, Portugal, Netherlands, Spain, Australia and the U.S. Why not so much Denmark? Because Denmark was a relatively small player in this global trade?? So what?
The Danish ships carried almost half a million(500.000) enslaved Africans from modern day Ghana to colonies like St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix. And just because Denmark was the "first" European power to abolish the transatlantic slave trade doesn't give them a "pass" to not apologize and face the financial due. Today Denmark seems to be hiding from this mess . Knowing that the slave system was highly profitable for the Danish state and notoriously brutal. Many Slaves died under the Danish slave trade during the grueling Middle Passage journey. What the heck?
I believe Denmark has "took us to the cleaners" after selling those Caribbean Islands to the U.S. LOL!! Almost as if nothing happened . Today in Copenhagen city, capital of Denmark(photo below) you can see the traces of the tiny African diaspora of St.Thomas&St Croix living in the country.
