The fact that he singles out past Popes who've enabled & sanctioned our ancestors enslavement is a big distinction from previous Vatican statements on the slave trade. Big Props to Pope Leo!

...Pope Leo must be feeling a strong spiritual pull from the African side of his ancestors.
btw, i'm pretty sure some 'uncle thomas-type' African Archbishops in the Vatican are not pleased with Pope Leo's statement on that matter. Damn Judases
