I think it's a pretty okay review, meaning it could have been worse, in the New York Times context.

Thing is, nothing can checkmate 'A People's History of the United States.' It has changed how we read & understand America's history.

btw, I'm also a fan of Adam Hochschild - well, kinda. I think his book on King Leopolds wickedness in Congo - King Leopold's Ghost - should be on our book shelves.

And yes, I read 'A People's History of the United Ststes' from cover to cover; so did my children, although I had to force the reactionary one at the barrel of an Ak-47😆🤣
