My very first memory of television was seeing the McCarthy hearings back in the early 50's. Dad was the first to have a tv on our block and our Jewish neighbors, Hazel and Max Bodenheimer, would come over and watch them when they started early in the morning. Hazel loved my dad because of his fighting in WWll in Europe against the fucking nazis, and he also had a Joe Must Go sticker on his bumper. LOL!!
This was in Peoria, Illinois. Also at our house a few times was a young sports announcer at the time who later became famous as the voice of the Los Angeles Lakers- Chick Hearn. He lived down the street from us. Sadly, his son David, whom i knew died years later of a drug overdose.
Anyway, as I went out the door early to first grade I can still see all of them sitting in front of the tv yelling at it. LOL And when I came home ole Joe was still on the tube.
