It appears that there is a large community of Afro-Paraguayans in Kamba Cua, near Paraguay's capital city where most of the African descendants believe their ancestors came from Kenya. Actually the word "Kamba" was named after that area where those Maroons chose to live, the word derived from "AKamba" meaning drums(or drumming) in Kenya. And furthermore amongst the Afro-Paraguayan community there are some descendants of 400 black spearmen who arrived to Paraguay 195 years ago from Angola, accompanying the revolutionary general Jose Gervasio Artigas.
