Well, these are NOT the Gullah and Geechee people of South Carolina. These are NOT the Creoles of Louisiana. These are NOT the AAs who escaped to Canada and built Africville in Nova Scotia. These are NOT the descendants of the Caribbean community who migrated to America in mid 19th century. These are NOT the enslaved African Americans who escaped south to Mexico from Texas, drawn by the nation's abolition of slavery in 1829 and its refusal to sign fugitive slave treaties. These are NOT the 19th and early 20th centuries free African Americans and liberated slaves who moved to West Africa to establish "Liberia", organized primarily by the American Colonization Society. NO.
Actually these AAs are a community of the "survivors" of the last slave ship "clotilda" that entered North America "illegally" via Alabama in 1860, just one year before the civil war. The boat was burned down in order to erase the evidence of this now illegal traffic. Anyway, what is important to note here was that this last African survivors have had a serious hard time to "adjust" with the AA slaves who were born in America hundreds of years before they arrived in this last slave ship in 1860. What a mess
?? Can you imagine the hell they have caught from the native Black slaves?? Yet these survivors managed to build their own town in Alabama that still exist today, known as Africatown. Really Amazing!!
