Wonder if Oprah's ever been to Liberia... . Ancestry dot com, according to an Internet story I read, says she's descended from what is today Liberia.
I don't trust Ancestry, though. They're probably up to some mischief, as brother GM would say. Oprah could certainly help that country of Americo-Liberians, but after a few generations of marriages, one's DNA is descended from all over the place.
I had my DNA done through Ancestry, and they first said I had ancestry in the Senegal area and Nigeria. Well, on Facebook one of my nephews planted a presumptuous story that we were descended from Abdul Rahman a prince from the Senegal/Guinea area, who had been captured and taken to Natchez, Mississippi.
Well, I checked it and ran cold, or luke-warm, I should say. Hmmm, some of his descendants moved to Clarksdale, Miss. 30 miles from my hometown--reminds me; one of the descendant families there had a last name of some of my cousins, or a family we know???
At any rate, Ancestry coincidentally?? changed it from Senegal after I posted that I didn't think we were descended from Rahman. I had communicated with one of his descendants in Natchez, and we didn't have any DNA matches on Ancestry.
Ha, ha, I'm going to check into that Clarksdale connection more, though.

Re: Speaking of Oprah Winfrey,...She's in Morocco doing her dance...lol, (short video)
That is correct about Oprah's DNA, I have read that a few years ago. Well, I think she cares more about South Africa than Liberia, Les. Oprah built a school for Black girls in South Africa back in 2002. LOL!! Nada for Liberia!!
So hmmmm, you are possibly a descendent of "Abdul Rahman", I have read his story a long time ago, Les. He was soo brilliant in Arabic writtings since he was a Muslim that his white master at the time had to contact the Moroccan Sultan(I think it was Ismail Ibin Charif) to see Rahman's whereabouts. According to the story I think Rahman ended up returning to West Africa but NOT to Senegal/Guinea but Liberia instead, which was weird.
And yes, a paternity test can be wrong. As with all tests, there is always the chance that you will receive incorrect results. No test is 100 percent accurate. Human error and other factors can cause the results to be wrong. All in all studies have shown that DNA evidence is 99% accurate.

Never trusted Ancestry dot com... And frankly I have no interest in finding out my so-called roots... For the longest while i've identified as an African in the diaspora.. Don't care about whatEVAR white blood is flowing through my veins.. It's all about historical white rape so I don't give a damn for it.. 'Skip' Gates has been doing his bullshit on PBS and it's all about a hustle.. and is shameful! There.. now sue me!!
Speaking of Oprah Winfrey,... MEMO to the Gnawa man & his people
First off, it does not look like she's in Gnawa land, more like in the Marrakesh.. Secondly, this does not look at all like she's doing the Gnawa dance.. Not for one second has she attempted to blast off into space by leaping.
But here's the memo: Gnawa man, please don't let Oprah colonize the land in the Gnawa people's region.. Don't forget what she's done to the natives in Maui where she and her close pal Jeff Bezos helped drive up the price of homes and real estate by buying up huge plots of land belonging to the native people. And now that the fire has destroyed so many homes and buildings and businesses, I expect Oprah and her wealthy capitalist friends to swoop down and buy even more real estate. Shameful.
Signed: so please Mr Gnawa man and your friend Mr TheOne, please check to see if Oprah has colonizing intentions on the Gnawa people and their land. Just a warning!....anonymous gm
