The US government has made every effort possible to stop all broad-based, grassroots, revolutionary movements in Central America which have tried to address the issues of poverty and oppression.
Today, we remember the tragedy of the murder of 6 Jesuit priests in El Salvador who had the courage to speak for those poor and oppressed. They died at the hands of the US-trained and funded Salvadoran military.
The Reagan Administration gave $1.3 billion dollars in aid to the puppet government in El Salvador, which killed over 50,000 people including priests, nuns, journalists and union leaders.
Do you want to know why the poor of Central America are rushing to our borders? Look no further than our own government policy there over the past century.
I'm not saying that El Salvadorans "deserve" the Reagan Administration that gave $1.3 billion dollars in aid to their own puppet government which killed thousands of its own ppl, but all I'm saying is that El Salvador as a country that enslaved the Africans in 1528 had refused to recognize the Afro-Salvadorans in the constitution of El Salvador TO THIS DAY, and the Afro-Salvadorans are still NOT protected by law!!! I think this is itself a tragedy. Thats all I'm saying. LOL!! --->
Now, please, take your hands off my "trachea" and stop strangling me, Sir. LOL!!
The 6 Jesuit priests that were killed along with their staff were outspoken critics of the very racist policies in El Salvador to which you have alluded. Some of them were liberation theologists, who backed the FMLN guerilla force that fought for equality for all, including the indigenous and Afro-Salvadorans who make up .08 of the 5 million population.
Why would i want to strangle you, theone? LOL!! Do you have a guilty conscious? Do you think you made someone angry? LOL!! Do you think that no one knew that the oligarchs that have historically governed in El Salvador were not racists? LOL!!!

Oh yes, I'm sure that those 6 Jesuit priests(peace be upon them) spoke for not only the majority mestizos but also for the minorities Indigenous and those who are still visibly Black. Salvador is soo racist that those who have been in charge historically drove the country into a social process of "racial whitening" which was(and probably still is) an ideology that was widely accepted in El Salvador ever since the Black slave were so called set free. I don't see why this would make you be perplexed in Milwaukee, Maestro. LOL!!
Now in terms of strangling me you know I was just jokking,..because my "specialty" is to make others feel their guilty conscious. I have come across some Moroccans(my fellow citizens) who are NOt Gnawa and couldn't stand me when I bring the slavery subject in the Arab world, let alone face this historical wrong. The only thing they would say/reply to me is that Prophet Muhammed freed the slaves and game over, everyone is equal now. I say no, the Prophet Muhammad did not try to abolish slavery, and bought, sold, captured, and owned slaves himself. But he insisted that slave owners treat their slaves well and stressed the virtue of freeing slaves. Lawwd, you should see the perplexed look they gave me after stating that. LOL!!
Btw, most of the slaves in the Arab world were Black,...a few white slaves mostly women from what is now Eastern Europe were there too.

The fact is that the racist ideology of the oligarchy has not been widely accepted by the people of El Salvador. The FMLN, which was anti-racist, had a massive following which nearly overthrew the US backed government of El Salvador. There is still massive leftist organizing against the current right wing populist government.
