The image pays tribute to Willie "Tech-Man" Jenkins(photo below), an African American inventor from L.A who played a crucial role in the early development of drone technology in 1982. Despite his contributions being largely forgotten, Los Angeles is now recognizing his pioneering efforts in shaping the future of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). His innovations laid the groundwork for today's advanced drone applications in fields such as aerospace, surveillance, delivery systems, and military technology.
Indeed, despite his groundbreaking endowment, Jenkin's achievements were buried by the weight of systemic racism that plagued the era(early 1980s), leaving his name and inventions obscured from history. SMH!!!!

You know what's scary? I was watching some college basketball & football and it dawned on me how many young black men are being influenced, recruited and drawn to sports who otherwise could become the new Willie "tech-man" Jenkins of today.
Nothing wrong with being involved with sports, but we've got to do a better job in the community to make intellectual & scholarly pursuits more attractive to our young black men. Just saying.
