This line is from a statement written by Jesuit priest Daniel Berrigan following the "Catonsville Nine" protest, where he and other activists symbolically burned draft records to protest the Vietnam War on May 17, 1968; essentially saying they would rather burn paper than see children sent to war and potentially die. We could use more courageous voices like Daniel Berrigan's in today's world.
BIG PROPS TO DANIEL BERRIGAN..ALSO HIS BROTHER PHILIP. RIP
Man, such a powerful quote and very very relevant in today's Trump era! "the burning of paper instead of children"..Not only relevant to Vietnam then, but in the Middle East today. Indeed we need more courageous voices/"rebel priests" like the Berrigan brothers.. But let's not forget voices like those coming from 'Code Pink' with Medea Benjamin etc etc.
I suspect that were the Berrigan brothers alive today and with the same courage, the mainstream media would find ways to totally silence them or simply not cover any of their protests activities.
