In 1893, when Gandhi was living in South Africa he wrote to the Natal parliament saying that a "general belief seems to prevail in the Colony that the Indians are a little better, if at all, than savages or the Natives of Africa".
In 1904, he wrote to a health officer in Johannesburg that the council "must withdraw Kaffirs" from an unsanitary slum called the "Coolie Location" where a large number of Africans lived alongside Indians. "About the mixing of the Kaffirs with the Indians, I must confess I feel most strongly."
The same year he wrote that unlike the African, the Indian had no "war-dances, nor does he drink Kaffir beer". When Durban was hit by a plague in 1905, Gandhi wrote that the problem would persist as long as Indians and Africans were being "herded together indiscriminately at the hospital".

you're correct, I remember when Rodney Walter of Guyana in one of his speeches "implied" that Black Guyanese cannot rely on Indian Guyanese as sincere allies. And its definitely because of their religious belief system. Perhaps Rodney Walter was nothing but a lower caste untouchable for the Indian community. LOL!!
Same in England, Canada, Australia, and Suriname, Indians living in these western countries look down on ppl of African descent. You should check on "Mauritius Island" in East Africa, Hindus there are definitely playing the Kris Columbus on Black ppl there, especially the police, I swear, not only they outnumber Black folks(creoles) 30% vs 60% in Mauritius, but they dominate the economy, politics and the authority.
Fiji so far is the only country/South Pacific island that violently crushed this Indian "menace" way too early, the "Melanesians" weren't having it. Today Indo-Fijians have limited land ownership, with indigenous Fijians holding the vast majority of land. This landlessness restricts economic opportunities and perpetuates inequality.
