Eduardo Chivambo Mondlane(photo below) born 20 June 1920 – 3 February 1969) was a Mozambican revolutionary and anthropologist who was the founder of the Mozambican Liberation Front (FRELIMO). He served as the FRELIMO's first leader until his assassination in 1969 in Tanzania. An anthropologist by profession, Mondlane also worked as a history and sociology professor at Syracuse University(NY) before returning to Mozambique in 1963.
Eduardo Chivambo Mondlane - widely hailed as the father of Mozambique's independence movement - was killed on this day in 1969 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, by a bomb that had been concealed in a book sent to him. The assassination was the work of the Portuguese colonial authorities, who'd been incensed by his anti-colonial activities.

Re: Who Was This Mozambican Revolutionary Eduardo Mondlane??
Never heard of him! Samora Machel (RIP) was my hero in the Mozambique revolutionary struggle, so there must have been some contact between the two.
Seems Mondlane was quite an intellectual dedicated to getting independence for Mozambique unfortunately, even though he was a moderate by revolutionary standards of the time, the Portuguese intelligence apparatus assassinated him. RIP.
HOWEVER, Mondlane was married to a white American chick and that didn't sit too well among some members of his comrades(Marxist/Leninists) strangely enough.
.. hmm, how come Mr TheOne didn't tell us that Eduardo Mondlane used to hang out in SouthSide, Chicago, during his university days, EH?!!?

Yes, Samora Machel is the one I've known for all these decades until his death in the 80s. I found out about Mondlane only recently.

Hahahahaha!!, this is like breaking news for me,, so, Mondlane must have done some Black on Black shootings while heading to the university in the Southside. HAHAHAHA!!
But I bet you the Southside of Chicago that Mondlane knew in the 60s was definitely not "Chiraq". Black ppl in the 60s had a whole different attitude back in those days. They were more conscious. The Southside in the 60s was full of Black panthers, folks who didn't believe in killing each other.
