Afro-Brazilian artist Estevao Silva da Conceicao(photo below) poses in front of his house in the Paraisopolis favela in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on October 11, 2024. Estevao, an inhabitant of the second-biggest favela of the city, built his house without knowing the Catalan architect Antonio Gaudi. He constructed the house with stone, bricks, and different ceramic objects like cups and tea plates. He also included a hanging garden with columns unmistakably related to Gaudi.
Amazing how Estevao Silva did all this work without knowing Gaudi, the Catalan architect and designer from Spain, widely known as the greatest exponent of Catalan Modernisme. Gaudí's works have a sui generis style, with most located in Barcelona, including his main work, the Sagrada Família church.
