"If you go back 1000 years, it has never worked." [10.23]
😆🤣😆.."1000 years"? Karl Marx was born in 1818. The Communist Manifesto was published in 1848.
The disturbing part is none of those around him (highly educated) tried to correct him nor did the assembled media in the room challenged Trump's dumb answer. They're all intimidated by him. Scary.
"no federal food aid will go out Nov.1."..How mean of Trump to post this. Bastard...Nt

This post on Trump and communism reminds me of another president and his connection to Marxism.
Being a self-proclaimed Lincolnphile, let me offer up this interesting story on old, honest Abe which I recently read about.
Did you know that Lincoln indirectly corresponded with Karl Marx?
Marx initially wrote to Lincoln on behalf of the the London-based International Workingmen’s Association. The letter was entitled, "The Address."
It congratulated Lincoln on his reelection for a second term and heralded the world-historical significance of what had become a war against slavery.
Marx signed the letter along with several prominent British trade unionists as well as French socialists and German social democrats.
US Ambassador in London, Charles Francis Adams wrote to the IWA, explaining that the president had asked him to convey his response to their “Address.” He thanked them for their support and expressed his conviction that the defeat of the rebellion would indeed be a victory for the cause of humanity everywhere.
Surely, the appearance of the names of several German revolutionaries on the letter would not have surprised Lincoln; the defeat of the 1848 revolutions in Europe had swelled the flood of German migrants arriving in North America. At an earlier date — in 1843 — Marx himself had thought of immigrating to Texas, going so far as to apply to the mayor of Trier, his birthplace, for an immigration permit.
German progressive immigrants played a huge part in Lincoln winning both of his presidential elections. Lincoln, for a short period was in business with German newspaper owners.
Lincoln clearly grasped nascent stage Marxist theory. Some excerpts from his writings indicate that fact: "I affirm as my conviction that class laws, placing capital above labor, are more dangerous to the Republic at this hour then chattel slavery in the days of its haughtiest supremacy. Labor is prior to and above capital, and deserves much higher consideration."
Wow!! Can you imagine a presidential candidate saying this now? Honest Abe would be a villain in the eyes of the oligarchic gangsters of today. They would have him up on charges of treason.

This is Trump on communism:

Hmm, quite an interesting & revealing bit of history! And accounts for the German enclaves within Texas.
The names Abe Lincoln & Karl Marx don't even sound right alongside each other, but that's from today's perspective given how miseducated we are.
For sure, Lincoln would be villainized in our current political climate - but would he be, though? An Abe Lincoln personality-type espousing socialist values today would not necessarily be a failure, given how socialism is becoming more accepted among today's young people - eg., see how successful Mamdani's brand of socialism is in the heart of capitalist America, New York!
