Timmit Gebru...guys we need to keep an eye on this AI expert..

I suspect she's been posted about here by either Les or Mr TheOne, but I don't know for sure...

All I know is that Timmit Gebru is a Black woman deeply involved in the evolution of AI technology and has been warning the Black community about the potential anti-black bias & danger hidden within the system itself..
No doubt a brainiac and someone who seems to care about us and humanity..

No, Mr GM, I have never posted about Timmit Gebru(photo below) nor heard about her in the past.

Rather I remember posting a video about another interesting young sista Ms Joy Buolamwini a Ghanain-American, she was interviewed by Amy Goodman at democracy now. Dr. Joy is a prominent computer scientist and artist based in Boston, Massachusetts, who rose to global prominence through her pioneering "AI" research at MIT. She's the founder of the Algorithmic Justice League, she exposed racial bias in facial recognition technology and became a leading voice for ethical AI.

Now back to Timmit Gebru, indeed, a very interesting Sista from Eritrea originally, moved to Ireland first with her parents who were seeking political asylum, and then finally they all flew to the U.S. Basically Gebru is in the same "AI" battle as Joy Buolamwini.

By the way, Black women working in Artificial Intelligence globally represent about 2% of technical and AI roles.

I knew you'd posted about some Black woman who was doing great work in AI technology & systems.
Big props to Joy Buolamwini!

Interesting that both women share an African heritage.
If the African continent & the African diaspora ever get our shit together, these are the kind of brianiacs we would produce.

Of the two, I lean more toward Timnit Gebru.
Buolomwini seems a tiny bit clownish to me. Plus Tamnit looks like a relative if mine, and looks like my Brazilian heroine, Marielle Franco. There.

I personally believe AI will be a disaster for humanity overall, especially in the hands of folks like Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerbery and other oligarchs. And when you add politics into the mix, marginalized communities like ours will be completely dominated, manipulated, exploited, and rendered useless. AI is a serious threat to all of us, particularly the working class citizenry.
