""""A Brief History of the Black Iranian by Jeffrey Kass""""
Will definitely watch it, look for it on Youtube.
I wanted to add how dedicated Hamid Sayed is for his Afro-Iranian ppl and culture and music, maybe you've noticed it in the video. He's fighting so hard to keep the Afro-Iranians aware of their African heritage. His attitude in Iran reminded me of mine in Morocco. I mean the level of his commitment is too much. Big props to him.
"""Some folks can't process that Africans were in that area long before the Arab or Persian influence or presence""""
Indeed, even in the video you will hear/notice that some Afro-Iranians may not appreciate their African origins coz they don't even consider themselves descendants of Africans or that their ancestors might have been there before anybody else. In fact even "Hamid Sayed" in the video said that his folks were sold as slaves in the southern coast of Iran and he showed us where in the video.
Also Afro-Iranians(like Gnawa) have things in common with Haitians and Black ppl of Louisiana. (Voodoo), its all in the video, very interesting doc.

I need to get back to this documentary but Mr TheOne, I was checking out something about Afro-Iranians yesterday and I suspect your video will add more substance or facts to the article:
In your spare time google: "A Brief History of the Black Iranian," by Jeffrey Kass. [6.26]
A very simple take and a brief one but from my perspective underlines the usual assumptions that Black folks are in the area either from the slave trade or earlier on from the early sea trade routes etc etc.
Some folks can't process that Africans were in that area long before the Arab or Persian influence or presence. It's pretty much like the denial of the African roots of Kemetic Egypt etc.
