I have experienced only 1 "go-round" in hundreds of flights...
...We were landing at a small area airport in an old twin turboprop Gulfstream. We were only about 50 to 100 feet off the runway when they gunned the engines, changed the flaps and pulled up. We went around and landed from the opposite direction. As we were landing, a thunderstorm hit. We went around because the wind direction changed suddenly and violently. That was just 100 miles away from Dallas-Fort Worth airport, where Delta Flight 191 had crashed in a thunderstorm just a little earlier.
