I am easily amazed perhaps, but I never cease to marvel at the sheer amounts and availability of data for all sorts of purposes. On my job I was able to - within hours of year end - find the location of every one of our thousands of railcars all across the country. I kept thinking how many total railcars were out there and how much data that had to take.

It is much like the current DOGE effort. Those guys access and process huge quantities of data in an amazingly short time. Both the available data and the tools used to process the data boggle this old mind.

On the medical side, what has happened in our lifetimes is nothing short of miraculous. When I was born, there were no hip replacements or heart bypasses. There was no arthroscopic surgery. There were no heart transplants and kidney transplants were in their infancy - only possible between identical twins. The polio vaccine was brand new. The measles vaccine was approved about the time I had measles.

There are too many medical miracles to list but we have an amazing life compared to then.
