and I think it is a shame they have to be demo'd.

I don't know much about architecture - only what I might consider eye candy without knowning the how's and why's that it is pleasing to the eye. However, in my hometown in the past few decades they have demo'd many art decco buildings and if I understand it correctly, that kind of building is not affordable anymore. I think it is a shame.
