...why? Whatever money is in the social security trust fund is invested in treasuries. The money in the trust fund was already "loaned" to the same federal government which took it to the general fund. Either way, that federal government is so far in debt that whether they pay money directly to you or pass it through to social security by paying off the treasuries - social security is being funded by current borrowing.
