1. Some genius back in the days of desktop calculators decided that we were wasting our time calculating the cost of products to 4 decimal places. They decided that we would save time by only calculating everything to the third decimal place. They declared that from this day forward we would use the same forms, etc. but we would show only 3 decimal places and put a zero in the fourth decimal place.

I guess I was a bit of a rebel but I pointed out that the standard, company-issued calculators on each of our desks had settings for 0, 1, 2, 4, or 8 decimal places but none for 3 decimal places. What they were doing was adding a step for which each employee, upon calculating costs to 4 decimal places would then round that cost to 3 decimal places for the sake of supposedly saving time and effort.

Rule canceled. It was a ridiculous assumption anyway to believe that somehow using fewer decimal places would decrease the time and effort required by any meaningful amount.
