When I was a middle school librarian I grabbed a trouble making kid by the collar and hauled him out in the hall for a good lecture.
A history teacher, big 6’5” tall ex-marine, came by and warned me I could be going to court for my actions. I told him it would be a cold day in hell before I let a 13 year old kid run the library. I only had one other kid act up to that degree. I sent him to the office. I didn’t really have too many problems like that. I was strict, but fair, liked the kids, and was consistent with discipline. But that was awhile ago. I don’t think many kids are being disciplined at home anymore. A lot of them spend hours with their phones and computers. It’s a shame. They deserve much better.
