Very frequently, ET civilization send scout ships toward Earth. As each spacecraft approaches Earth, they run into expanding spherical waves of TV broadcasts, to which they tune in. After viewing such gems as Mash, Hogan's Heroes, Jerry Springer Show, Hawaii Five-Oh, Mister Ed, the Simpsons, etc, they invariably decide that there is absolutely no intelligent life on Earth and turn around.
