My husband's PSA was 13.6 last summer with a visit to his doctor..and they immediately ran more tests....fortunately it had not spread! He had 58 radiation treatments and is on testosterone lowering injections or infusions of Lupron every 3 months....for 2-3 years....of course he is 90....LOL,,,but he has an 80 year old nephew that was diagnosed about 3 months before he...that when found he had a PSA of 27... and also went thru the same method my husband has gone through...and he is still traveling all over the USA... It weakens you, the injection, especially in the legs...but, it has not stopped my husband from his love of yardwork and keeping busy....
They have made tremendous advances in prostate cancer....though, once it metastisizes....it is much harder to treat...and maybe scott knows more about that...but, I thought I read they may need chemo also, once it spreads....
The last PSA reading of my husbands PSA was 0.14 ... prior ones were 4 and then 2 and the oncologist says that they will stay that low or go lower?? LOL...as long as he is on Lupron.... But, he is doin AOK other than tired legs, by working to hard....
