...sales taxes are the worst. There are so many rules and interpretations that it comes down to a matter of opinion. Then the state basically forces you to audit yourself. They come in, test 10 or so invoices, then if they find nothing they test more. If they can find a few they can disagree with they then extrapolate how much of an error that would be on your entire tax bill and they demand payment plus penalties. Then you hire a bunch of former sales tax employees to go through every invoice and determine what they think and they charge a large percentage of all moneys saved. It is a huge racket.

Income taxes are not much better but the level of cheating is huge. Add to that the fact that so many people get huge credits and it is horrid. I don't know if anybody pays their fair share because I have no idea what a "fair share" is. It is not "fair" for our government to waster our tax dollars either.
