I would argue that the radical left vs moderates in both parties demand uniformity that we all think alike. I think common sense as well as history prove that that is a no go.

In contrast the idea of unity, imo, is that we think together, reason together and arrive at an agreeable answer to our questions, problems.

Most people understand this principle necessary in everyday life in marriage and family, with coworkers and friends. The truth is obvious. None of us is God. None of us is always right. Failing to recognize this, failure to be willing to recognize this has one outcome, failure, usually very painful.

That is one of the principles of Socrates’ dialogue back and forth
until the questions are fully asked, the ones that hopefully lead to a truth. i
