We were living in Australia in September of 1974 when the Shah and his entourage visited Australia. We were invited to a rooftop vantage point at the airport in Canberra to witness the arrival.
Best I can remember from that long ago is three large aircraft, and a long line of passengers emerging, including women in gorgeous brightly colored long dresses, and men carrying many trunks.
I recall feeling amazed at the splendor of it all. Until then I had wondered why we’d been invited to see someone, admittedly a significant someone, land at the airport.
