...a supervisor with the new company was giving me a hard time about everything he could think of. I knew that they wanted me to get mad and quit but I was stubborn. I wanted my severance package.

Anyway, they gave every manager who was there when they bought the plant the same treatment - as if we were not worthy of them. They blasted us on annual reviews for mostly useless stuff. In my case they had told me that my assistant would not be a long term employee then on my review criticized me for not helping him develop as an employee.

So one day I decided to reverse things a bit and I asked my supervisor what his real problem was with me. He told me that he would deny ever saying it but that I "made too damned much money."

I laughed and replied "That is definitely not the worst thing anyone ever said about me."
