Yes, and we are seeing a lot of it in the petroleum industry! Especially in well drilling. AI is taking over geo-steering in horizontal operations. Back when I worked for Mobil, geologists would steer the wellbore by examining rock cuttings and deciding the direction the bit should point in order to keep in pay zone. Now it's all based on AI and gamma ray profiles!
