Re. Harle Street Gateshead
Harle Street was a very steep street which ran from Cobden Terrace to Split Crow Road. It was a one sided street when I knew it with the houses on the right as the street made its up the bank. Cobden Terrace ran from Old Durham Road, junction with The Globe pub, then along the top of Gateshead East Cemetery ending at the top of King Edward Street. Maps still show Herbert Street which was directly opposite the bottom of Harle Street. The whole area was known as "Mount Pleasant".
