Try living in the countryside overloaded tractors and trailers for miles. Sometime the smell of slurry yuk.
The old road tax was for motorised vehicles not for cyclists or horses etc. These 2 were on the road before motorised vehicles ( excluding steam power).
Road Tax was brought in as a cash cow, but they would never ever admit it. Cyclists do pay for roads in their other taxís like everyone else.
Anyway driving a car is now a thing of the past or soon will be the way things are going.
An add for the caravan show at the NEC dropped in the other day. I think going there is a bit of a waste of time why my caravan weighs 1450kg My car kerb weight is 1950 kg a very good weight ratio and the engine is 2.2 litre.
Now try to buy a suitable tow car you will be very hard pushed to get one unless you go to top of the range cars.
A friend wishes to replace his Honda CRV 2.2. What do they offer a 1.5 oh itís got twin turboís so it will pull a caravan OK.
The salesmen have no idea.
Getting back to cyclists just wait until the e bikes get going. Then we will really have trouble as people unfit ( in more ways than one) to ride a bike may well buy them. The costs of e bikes is coming down and the range increasing.
What really should be getting your goat is these electric scooters. They are all illegal, they are fast and heavy and being rode on the pavement at high speed with no warning devices. I have seen about 4 in the last few weeks. They are a real danger to life and limb. Hebburn would be an ideal place to use one as fairly flat therefore longer range.
I could have used one to get to Clegga from Mill Lane.
Are you enjoying you Sportage. Is the cruise control OK. Mine is iffy to use a design fault OK for an automatic but not for a manual box.
