RABBIT COURSING AT HEBBURN
On Saturday, the rabbit coursing promoted by Mr Robert Carr, of Hebburn Colliery, was concluded in a field at the back of the Royal Hotel, (White Lead) at Hebburn Colliery. There were 72 entries, and in consequence of the unexpected number of dogs turning up, and the “no-goes,” the supply of rabbits ran short. As there was no chance of concluding the coursing those that ran agreed to divide the stakes. The most forward dogs were Mr. Robert Horsefield's of Hebburn Colliery, Scamp and Sweep, the former of which obtained £2- 4shillings for six goes, and the latter £1- 2shillings for three.
