Tempus fugit for all of us. I'm 78 and have COPD, so frustration is the name of the game. Using lawn mower, hedge trimmer and chain saw now involves occasional work breaks in between sitting around brushing up on my heavy breathing.
I've been actively involved in wildlife conservation volunteering since 1959 and now have to face the fact that I just can't do what I took for granted for so many years.
After being told I had been stupid by hospital staff for working up a ladder, I have given up falling off ladders, but it goes against the grain to have to ask for help.
Having a stroke last year made me realise that I must be getting old and will have to accept that taking it easy does not mean I am just lazy.
