Violence on the increase in Hebburn
Posted by trish on August 24, 2019, 1:22 pm
Around 4pm yesterday all hell broke out in Rede Avenue and Hedgeley Road back lane. It has been reported that a person was attacked and slashed with a machete. The area was sealed off for a couple of hours till door to door enquiries were carried out. Allegedly this has been waiting to happen for some time. Why on earth has this been allowed to happen if of course it being the case. There were a number of police cars, armed response and a incident response unit which took the victim to hospital. I don't know how many people were involved but am sure we would find out soon enough. Private landlords should be made to vet prospective tenant more than what they do to try and prevent these things happening. Decent living people should not have to endure such anti-social behaviour. It is shocking. I am going to set up a neighbourhood watch so people can report anything they may have concerns about even if it turns out to be nothing. Prevention better than cure springs to mind.
