The following information is from the book, The Streets of Hebburn - if you can help update or correct it, please let me know, thank you:
ASH STREET: Hebburn Colliery. Situated on south side of School Street, Hebburn Colliery. See The Old Tree Streets/The New Tree Streets.
There were two Ash Streets - the new rebuilt exactly upon the vacant plot of the old:
1. Built in or before 1881. Part of the ‘The Old Tree Streets’. Demolished before September, 1939.
2. Built c.1943. Part of ‘The New Tree Streets’. Demolished c.1963. First replaced with the School
Street Flats (Hardie Court, 1968) and recently the bungalows at School Street.
Named after: Tree.
