Your time at Arthur Street was a generation before I came along, so I need to ask a few questions if you don’t mind.
As there was only a gas mantle in the living room/cum/kitchen and not elsewhere, then I suppose you used candles to see your way around the rest of the house in the dark; I can see how much fun that could be going to the WC in the black on a windy night! smile
Elizabeth, as your food was cooked on the range in the living room, then what was the scullery used for and what did it contain?
Were you supplied with covering to blackout the windows, or did everyone black them out themselves… if so, what with?
