I do hope you can help. I have looked through the old photos on your site, they are brilliant, and hope that perhaps you know quite a lot about old South Shields. Have you ever come across this mission ? My grandfathers brother, Ralph Wake was killed in WW1 and a small pulpit was dedicated to him and donated to this mission. This information is from 'North East War Memorials Project'. I have contacted South Shields library, the museum and tried other sites, however no one knows or remembers this mission (grandfather was a miner,so not a seaman's mission) I was hoping for perhaps an old photo of Palmerston street showing the mission.I gather this area was cleared and redeveloped in the 1970/80's - any idea what would have happened to the pulpit, would it just be thrown in a skip.
