AVON ROAD: A side road off Finchale Road; directly across from and in line with Thames Road. Avon Road backed onto Island Lake - part of Hebburn Hall Ponds, drained c.1957.
12 residential homes (one flat) - some properties built in late 1960s.
In 1850, this was arable land, named ‘Wells Close’; occupied by John Redhead, and leased from landowner Cuthbert Ellison.
Named after: The River Avon, also known as the River Aune, is a river in the county of Devon on the south of England.
