In 1850, this was fields: the west side of Bellona Close sat on arable land, known as ‘Second Long Field’, and the east side of Bellona Close sat on arable land, known as ‘Third Long Field’; both occupied by John Redhead, and leased from landowner Cuthbert Ellison.
Named after: H.M.S. Bellona: Third-class cruiser, built by R & W Hawthorn Leslie & Co Ltd. Launched in 1890 and sold in 1906.
